Speech & Language
From first words to confident conversation
Speech and language skills help children connect with others, share ideas, ask for help, participate in school, and express who they are. Sometimes a child knows exactly what they want to say but cannot get the words out clearly or confidently.
When families reach out
Families may benefit from speech-language services when a child is hard to understand, uses fewer words than expected, struggles to follow directions, has trouble answering questions, has difficulty with conversations, repeats language without using it flexibly, needs social communication support, or uses AAC. We provide therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
How we help
- Articulation & speech-sound therapy — for children who are hard to understand or struggle to produce certain sounds.
- Receptive language therapy — understanding directions, questions, vocabulary, and concepts.
- Expressive language therapy — sentence development, grammar, storytelling, and functional communication.
- Social communication therapy — conversation, perspective-taking, flexible language, play, and peer interaction.
- AAC consultation & therapy — for children who use devices, picture systems, or other communication tools.
Flexible, practical, and playful
Therapy is individualized and responsive to the child in front of us — play-based practice, structured language activities, story retelling, conversation coaching, and parent modeling. Services are available in clinic, at school, at home, or virtually across Utah and Arizona when appropriate.
